OMW Immortal shipped

$

0
The OMW Longshot Immortal kits have been shipped and they have sent me some pics of the final product.

Omws had this to say about their Chrony testing:

"The kit produce fps of 120-140, depending on the kind of darts you use, with the 8 inch faux barrel still intact."

Here is a pic of the final product with the red color and massive priming handles.

Omw also had this to say about their testing of the Immortal kit:

"The only current issue that we have with it is that the elite darts seem to cause the old dart tooth system to stuck when it retracts downward, dragging the rubber tip of the dart with it, thus preventing the dart from firing out. We will be advising people on how to modify their dart tooth to fix this issue but our add on sealed breech should fix this problem completely."

I should be getting a post up on the kit soon.

Coop772: OMW Longshot Immortal Review

This is Coop772's review of the Orange Mod Works Longshot Immortal kit.  It's been a long wait for this kit to be released since it's November of 2011 pre-order date, but nevertheless it's a great review of this product!  Availability on the kit has been... odd to say the least, so if you're wanting to pick one up I'm not sure if they're available right now or not based on the mixed information out there right now.  You can visit OMW and check it out for yourself using the re-direct banner on the right column of this blog.

OMW Immortal kit: Overview

$

0
One of the most important things to mention about the Immortal kit is that it is made out of a stronger polycarbonate that is designed for high impact.   This is not the same material that was breaking in the Massacre kits.  Overall, I'm pretty impressed by it.  The kit comes with both an 8kg and 5kg spring so you can choose your spring load.  While at first glance most of the parts look like they might just be the same internals made out of a stronger material, there are some major design improvements to increase the durability of these components.

The first major improvement I notice was the design of the bolt sled.  They have added some support material along the top where the pin holds the breech to the sled.   They have also added material to the 90 degree angle from the top of the sled to the vertical parts which should make this section of the sled much more durable.

Another major improvement to the OMW Immortal kit is the seal from the tube to the breech.  OMW added a 2nd o-ring to the part of the breech that pushes the plunger back.  The stock Longshot internals do no have this feature.  The dead space issue is also taken care of with a solid back to the piece.

When I first saw pictures of the super-sized priming grips I was not a huge fan.  After trying it out I have to say it is a major improvement over the original, especially when priming a heavier spring load.  I do however wish that they made the priming handle one-sided so you wouldn't have the big grip coming off both sides of the blaster.  Depending on what your priming hand is you could just install it on what ever your preferred side happens to be.

What's not to love about the metal trigger?  The spring is a tight fit,  maybe too tight.  OMW suggests just putting it on wide side to the trigger which works fine.  You can also dremel down the post just a little bit, which is what I did.

 For comparison, left to right:
Stock
5kg
8kg
10kg
(yeah they all look the same to me too)

The catch seems pretty much identical.  The tube is also pretty much the same other than the fact that the walls are a bit thicker.

The part that holds the spring in the tube as well as the head are both more substantial with none of the cut outs you see on the sock parts.  The retention cap is a bit tight on the rod but with a big spring load and some lube I didn't feel it was going to make any difference in performance at all.

Here is Jun telling us about the kit!

Elite Alpha Trooper - The Real Deal!

I was contacted by BlackBoarderV (I'm sure you guys are all familiar with who he is!) and he basically hit me upside the head with news that I've been hoping for.

Originally posted at the UKNerfWar blog, apparently some sharp-eyed Nerfers spotted the Elite Alpha Trooper in the Spring/Summer edition catalogue of "Argos".

As you can see, it's set for a March release... And that's making me mad excited!
Also spotted is what seems to be a new Dart Tag blaster with a target board:

I don't know about you, but I'm definitely happy that the Elite Alpha Trooper is the real deal... and I can't wait to get my hands on a pair. I might go overboard and get even more than that though, haha.

(Credits to BlackBoarderV and the UKNerf Blog for the info!)

Remedy Metal Stainless Steel "Power Train" Longshot Kit Review

$

Hey guys!
I recently received a Power Train kit from the good people at Remedy Metal and this kit really impressed me, so I decided that I would review it and post more details on it for all to see.

After my initial unboxing of the kit, I decided to contact Joshua from Remedy Metals for more details about the kit and sought his permission to share that information on this blog. Big thanks to Joshua!

So here goes the review:
PhotobucketThe kit comes with everything pictured:

- RM SS Longshot Boltsled
- RM SS Longshot Plunger Tube + Breech & Barrel Assembly
- RM SS Longshot Plunger Rod Assembly
- RM SS Longshot Plunger Tube Cap
- RM SS Longshot Catch Plate Assembly
- A set of 4 Snap-Rings
- A Snap-Ring pliers tool
- Some Nylon spacers (hard to see in this pic)
- A pair of spare O-rings
- A delrin support strip for the Longshot trigger
- A tube of industrial-grade lubricant
-  A pair of Nerf Elite Streamlines
-  A pair of RM metallic stickers

PhotobucketHere's a close-up of the Snap-Rings, O-rings, Boltsled Pin, Nylon spacers and delrin support strip for the Longshot  trigger.
PhotobucketTake a look at the Plunger head.
PhotobucketIt's hand-welded on to the Plunger Rod.
PhotobucketMy Plunger Rod Assembly kit came pre-assembled, but I decided to take it apart for this picture.

It comes with a cut down K26 spring and is hand-closed at the ends of the spring, and the  assembly is fastened by a screw and custom nut on the back end. The K26 clocks in at about a 11-12kg spring load.

The head and tail pieces are turned out on a CNC lathe while the rod is 1/2 16ga stainless tube with a nut welded into the end for the tail screw.
PhotobucketNow let's take a look at the Barrel end of the breech assembly.

The delrin coupler is turned out of a CNC lathe and then given some hand detailing.

The barrel itself had to be water cut out to fit the receiver end perfectly.

Speaking about the barrel, Joshua did a ton of research and alot of trial and error to get the perfect 5/8 stainless steel tube for darts.

Cool note: This tube was actually made for the nuclear industry!
PhotobucketGood and clean water cut job, nested perfectly in the delrin coupler.
PhotobucketJust to show you the dart fit. It's great for Elite streamlines. More snug than PETG, but not as tight as 1/2" CPVC. I think it's a very good fit.
PhotobucketThis is the Receiver half of the breech assembly, and since it's made of the same tube as the Barrel end,the dart fit is the same.

It features an internally welded dart-stop (Sorry, no picture of that!).

The top boltsled connector nub is hand-welded precisely.
PhotobucketNow it's time to assemble the receiver into the plunger tube. This was my first time seeing Snap-Rings and the Snap-Ring pliers, but honestly, installation wasn't too tough.

The Snap-Rings will go onto the grooves at the end of the receiver tube.

Remember to first slot the receiver into the plunger tube before installing the first Snap-Ring!
PhotobucketHere you can see the Snap-Ring in front of the stainless steel plate.

The reddish substance on the walls of the plunger tube is the lubricant.
PhotobucketOnce everything is done, insert the Plunger rod assembly and close it up!

You don't need any Nylon washers here, and just for the record, the end-cap was water cut.
PhotobucketThis is the completed Plunger Tube  assembly.
PhotobucketMoving on to the boltsled!

All sled pins are hand made via a 3mm AO tool drill rod that Remedy Metal cuts, oil hardens, and then tempers (The blue hue on the pin is due to the tempering, it will fade in time).

Take note of where the Nylon spacers are supposed to be sitting!
PhotobucketBehold, the Stainless Steel Boltsled + Breech + Plunger Assembly in all it's glory.
PhotobucketThis is the delrin trigger support that was included in the kit.

It is meant to help support and prevent the Longshot trigger arm from bowing and warping under stronger catch springs.

It features cut out slots that will sit perfectly in the walls of the Longshot. It even comes with an adhesive end so you can just stick it in place.
PhotobucketThis is what it looks like with the trigger installed. It makes more sense now, doesn't it? :)
PhotobucketAnd here's the installation of the SS Catch Plate assembly.

The assembly comes with this cut out delrin support piece. As you can see, the SS catch plate is more narrow than the stock catch plate, so this support piece helps to prevent it from wobbling.

You have to install the SS piece first.
PhotobucketThe delrin support piece comes after, and it sits in the grooves like that.

The nub on the SS catch plate is deliberately curved, make sure you do not flatten it.
PhotobucketView of the SS Catch Plate assembly from the back (partly blocked by the stock priming indicator).

Oh, did I mention that the catch spring included on the SS catch plate is very strong?

It's the strongest catch spring I've come across.
PhotobucketAll In! Finally, everything is installed in place. I sleeved the stock orange barrel over the SS barrel.

That ends my review of the Remedy Metal Stainless Steel Power Train Kit for the Nerf Longshot CS-6.

I personally like the fact that this kit has alot of personality put into it, with each piece having to be hand-welded or hand-made by Remedy Metal.

Also, this kit achieves a 100% seal in the breech system while still being able to accept both Stefans and standard darts (and their respective clips), and unlike other breeches, it works off air pressure that's built up behind the dart instead of solely relying on spring power.

It requires absolutely no shell work, and the parts are all very beautifully finished and Remedy Metal puts in their best effort to make sure that there are no sharp edges that will scrape the shell of your  blaster. It's really smooth!

The kit ships pre-assembled for shipments anywhere within the USA, and ships dis-assembled for all other countries. A neat trick that they did was to include the two Elite Streamline darts as supporting proof that this is a "replacement kit for toy"!

This full kit will set you back USD$184.99 (if you buy each kit separately, the total would be USD$209.96) without shipping, but after using this kit, this is easily my favourite LS replacement internal kit, and you get great quality and great worksmanship at a great price.
I hope you enjoyed this review and I hope it gave all of you more insight into the kit. Once again, I'd like to give a big shoutout to Joshua and the Remedy Metal team for a wonderful stainless steel kit.

Peace,
pSyk

London Toy Fair coverage (via MyLastDart)

MyLastDart emailed me about his trip to the London Toy Fair.  This is what he could disclosed without getting into legal trouble:

N-Strike Elite

The rumored "Elite Stampede" is not happening. Supposedly "it doesn't need to now (wink)".

As for that Alpha Trooper CS-12, it is definitely real and will be released outside of the United Kingdom in the United States, as well as other European countries. However, representatives were not able to confirm releases in Asia and other territories, so there will be a wait it see if it will be released in Asia or not.

The mystery of the Incinerator/Counterstrike has been wrapped up; these names were "indeed a case of lost in translation". It's been confirmed that these are simply the Firestrike.

There will also be some new accessories coming that MyLastDart has deemed "insane" and had this to say about them: "holy. cow. batman."

N-Strike

The N-Strike series is officially being discontinued and phased out. N-Strike Elite is replacing it as the "official" Nerf dart blaster series. Despite this, other companies have created some new products with the Nerf/N-Strike brand. These include:

  • Camglasses recorder ("Super Spy" glasses with a built-in camera)
  • Action Kit (packaged with Jolt, sound amplifier, and movement detector)
  • Sound amplifier (by itself)
  • Motion detector (by itself)
  • Walkie talkie watch set (straps onto the wrist, comes packaged with two)
  • Spy Sleeve ("7-in-1" multi-use glove)
  • Headset intercom (walkie talkie set, comes packaged with two)
  • Disk Shooter (comes packaged with Jolt, three Whistler Darts, and three target discs) (disc refill packs will be sold separately)

Vortex

The Vortex series will not have any further accessories released.

Dart Tag

Supposedly Toys 'R' Us US is in control of Dart Tag in the United States. Because Dart Tag did not sell nearly as well as hoped, the Nerf Dart Tag League has stopped the supposedly yearly tournaments. According to representatives, "the more they well, see demand in Dart Tag - the more tournaments they will do".

As for the United Kingdom, they will be testing out a possible tournament alongside with Paragon Entertainment, the group which will be creating "Nerf Quest stores" in the UK. These tournaments may bring us store-based leagues, with some store versus store games, as well as a possible national tournament. With this, there may be a chance of TV coverage of the tournament on sports networks.

There will be no new blasters or accessories coming our way, except for that recently discovered Stinger blaster set. Speaking of the Stinger, apparently it has "Elite" internals, but is not going to be a part of any sort of "Elite Dart Tag" series. It holds two darts and "has some crazy internals".

Other announcements

Nerf is going to be taking on social media in a new, interactive way. They will be reformatting the UK Nerf website, as well as "creating a new run of TV ads". Whether or not we'll see the same elsewhere in the world, we'll find out eventually.

Now some big news: we have three new blasters heading our way. There's no word on what series these will be released under. We have been given a date to look forward to: February 9. MyLastDart has said, "Believe me, you will scream and shout and dance when I post it up. I did."

A little closing message from MLD:
Mod community keep up everything that you do, as well as the Stock reviewers. Hasbro R&D is watching you closely <wink>
This is what I can talk about, and have bullet-pointed it for now. I'm spending the day with them to learn all I can right now.

I'm heading off shortly for a full scale battle with them, with the new blasters and accessories. It's been an amazing morning so far, as promised I have spent the day closely with Hasbro Design Engineers, found out a lot of brilliant news, and a lot of inside news. It was great they knew who I was and follow my blog :)
This is all I can write for now, until I am cleared further by Hasbro Legal Team.

Check out his blog and write-ups here.

Q&A With Hasbro (Toy Fair)

$
0
0
MyLastDart was cleared to share some of what Hasbro said about the Nerf line at the London Toy Fair.  To sum up some of the highlights:
-N-Strike will be phased out for N-Strike Elite
-there will be three new +75ft blasters released on 9-9-13
-Dart Tag will not be getting the Elite treatment

"Q: For future NERF products, will Hasbro plan to work closely with their product users and in some way collaborate with NERF enthusiasts on the design and production of NERF blasters that cater (in general) to their end user's needs?
A: The mod community, short-movie makers, Stock players have given plenty of feedback, and raised some interesting options for N-Strike blasters. Basically fans continue to show innovation and what they expect from Nerf and they change what is to be created. This is why there is a 2 year plan in place. Hasbro R&D keep a watchful eye on all communities, so guys keep it up.

Q: Is it possible for Hasbro to create a list or create some form of announcement for discontinued
blasters?
A: N-Strike range will be discontinued, if it's yellow expect it's end of the line.

Q: What's this year's secret blaster like is it vortex or elite? or a brand new line
A: Hasbro confirm there will be 3 new N-Strike blasters. Their new ranges exceed 75 feet.

Q: Is Hasbro going to release a new line, or just a new blaster for the 9-9-13 big release?
A: 3 top secret never before seen N-Strike blasters are coming. They exceed 75 feet ranges.

Q: Question for Hasbro: Will there be a Elite Longshot or Longstrike successor coming out soon?
A: Did Rambo ever need one?

Q: What is the fate of Dart Tag and N-Force?
A: Dart Tag will be pushed in every territory to encourage tournaments. No comment on N-Force.

Q: Will the Dart Tag Snapfire 8 and N-Strike Elite Stockade be released in the US sometime in the
near future or are they overseas releases only?
A: They will come eventually to all territories, stay up to date with your local retailers.

Q: Will there be any new upcoming Dart Tag or N-Force products for 2013 or 2014?
A: Apart from the Dart Tag Stinger box set no. No comment on N-Force.

Q: Follow up question, If Dart Tag and N-Force are still supported; are there any plans to
introduce a more advanced series based off these series? "Dart Tag Elite or N-Force Elite"
possibilities?
A: There is no plans for Dart Tag range to expand (The Stinger set is a glorified Jolt with an Elite paint job), Hasbro are happy with the range, and feel they still have untapped utility. No comment on N-Force.

Q: Third follow up question, Will there be an advanced series of Vortex, will it be given a similar
treatment to N-Strike? "Vortex Elite" possibilities?
A: No comment.

Q: Will any N-Strike blasters that are NOT transitioned to the N-Strike Elite series still be
available for retail sale with the N-Strike Elite series or is the entire series being discontinued
in favor of N-Strike Elite with blasters that are not transitioned over discontinued?
A: The N-Strike range will be discontinued, in favor for N-Strike Elite - some territories are already in that phase, some are no where near it.

Q: Will there be any more sub-series released in the near future?
A: No comment.

Q: Will the Dart Tag World Championship league be held again or is it completely over?
follow up question: If the Dart Tag World Championships are over, will something similar be created
in the near future?
A: In the UK, fans can expect some very exciting things. Dart Tag is going to be pushed in a big way, especially since Paragon Ent. have secured a license for official Nerf stores. These in a nutshell will have arenas for Leagues, Store vs Store and plan National tournaments. Maybe even TV sport coverage. That is up to fans if they like Dart Tag enough. These will not be limited to tweens, but Kidults too (wohoo).

Q: Will the new 2012 products be headed to Countries outside the US anytime soon such as the UK and Canada?
A: Some products are unique to certain stores, but we should expect a majority of them to be available at some point.

Q: Is the rumored "Incenerator" another name for the Firestrike or is it a completely new blaster?
A: This is indeed lost in translation, as is the "Counterstrike".

Q: Will there be a new version of the belt fed Havok (Vulcan) using elite darts
A: No comment

Q: Does Nerf take anything from HvZ communities?
A: Hasbro actually do take feedback from the HvZ players and communities, because it is one of the larger off-spin parts of the Nerf hobby. The feedback they see on community pages helps angle product development with HvZ in mind.

Q: What does Nerf say about OMW? Or NerfTech?
A: They basically don't approve of any mod that makes their blasters unsafe. They work to strict Toy Safety Regulations and certain mods undo that safety. Innovations like NerfTech are funky but do not impact on their own accessory plans.

Q: Will you make a Elite Alpha Trooper and can you send Strongarm to Malaysia?
A: This is confirmed to be real, Argos.co.uk have it as an exclusive blaster. They will ship it to their sister companies in the US. No confirmation for Asia and other territories. Strongarm is expected to be available - see your local retailer.

Q: Nitefinder has Firestrike as a direct successor or is this still going to be Elite'd?
A: Firestrike is the successor.

Q: More plunger systems, less flywheels. That's what Elite needs now. Oh wait, make that electronic plunger systems.
A: No comment.

Q: Could you ask if Nerf gonna make a Dart tag armor instead of a t-shirt XD
A: This is not likely to happen, but never say never. It depends on how the Dart Tag push is received."

The Stryfly - Coop772's Modified Stryfe

$

This is my modified Nerf Stryfe. I don't like introductions, so here is the information and photos:

Modifications
  • Resistors removed
  • Electronic locks removed
  • Mechanical locks removed
  • Voltage increased w/ UltraFire batteries
  • Trigger lubricated (mad smooth trigger pull)
  • Rough Cut integration through detachable Retaliator barrel
  • Firefly stock integrated
  • Moving parts relubricated
  • Retaliator faux barrel replaced with 3/4" thinwall PVC
  • Blue LEDs...everywhere.
Paint Job
  • Black vinyl dye base
  • Krylon 'Hot Pink' accents
  • Krylon 'Ocean Blue' details
  • Krylon 'Chrome' dry brushing
  • Rustoleum matte clear coat

The Retaliator barrel remains detachable.

The LEDs in the top portion of the Firefly were not diffused like the
other areas. These LEDs are actually pointing downward into the
Stryfe shell. This gives a nice "glow" appearance which looks very cool.

The nasty stuff you see in the bottom is Bondo, which helps the integration
feel super strong and reduces vibration from the Stryfe.

This 9v battery powers the LEDs for the primary blaster.

I had to modify the Rough Cut trigger to allow full
movement due to the battery location.

The silver visible on the faux barrel is aluminum tape. This
is to reflect the LED light rays around and try to make it
appear as bright as possible from the outside.

Brand new Dart Tag Stinger blasters and sets!

$
0
0

I had some time to waste today and decided to drop by Toys "R" Us. When I walked in, I found the brand new Dart Tag blasters! They are officially being called the "Stinger".

There was the "Dart Tag Target Tag" that we have been shown by the Argos catalog, but that's not all they had!

Also on the shelf was what's called the "Dart Tag Dart Duel" blaster set!

More details and unboxing videos after the jump!

"Dart Tag Target Tag"

Package includes:

  • Dart Tag Stinger blaster (blue)
  • Training target
  • 5 Dart Tag Darts
  • Instructions

The Stinger is pretty much a more streamlined and more comfortable Jolt. It uses the exact same design with just a little more plastic shell so that you can hold the extra two darts up top. Straight out of the box it seems like its using a little higher powered spring, but I won't know for sure until I can do some testing.

The darts are now Y-coded and seem to be made kinda of cheap. It could just be me, but that's what they seem to me.  They are the same dart just a little different color tip and different codes.

As for the target, there's not much to talk about. It has a fold out stand on the back; alternatively, you can hang it on a wall. Not all the packaged darts like to stick, but it works.

"Dart Tag Dart Duel"

Package includes:

  • 2 Dart Tag Stinger blasters (red and green)
  • 2 sets of Vision Gear glasses
  • 2 training jerseys
  • 6 Dart Tag Darts (3 red, 3 green)
  • Instructions

These Stingers are the exact same as above. However, they come in an awesome red and green color!

Darts are once again Y-coded and seemed even cheaper than the ones above. They have red and green tips, which is kind of cool, but just doesn't seem to be up to par with other darts when it comes to how they are made.

The Vision Gear glasses are the same as they always have been. However, they have green and red lenses. The jerseys, again, are nothing but a cheap material that the darts stick to. Nothing too exciting.

Overall, I like the new design of the Stinger over the Jolt. It feels a lot better in the hands, but it's still a Jolt.

Secret Sleeve Shooter

Basic Nerf did a post on this.  I was hoping to find one to do a full review on, but no luck so far.  This looks interesting and I know a few people have played with the idea of making something like this as quick draw side arm.  More that being practical, people probably just think the concept is cool, much like the hidden sleeve blade thing from Assassin's Creed.

While the concept is cool, you have to wonder how well the thing will actually work. Between the second picture and the third, it's not clear if the actual blaster part will automatically extend enough to reach the firing button.

It's also not entirely clear how you deploy the extending piece.  One picture says "a flick of the arm", whereas this pic has a bubble leading to the text "extending mechanism to deploy"... whatever that is suppose to mean.

This has me curious enough to check it out so if I find one I'll pick it up to let you guys know how it works.

Dart Praxis?

This is more shameless knockoffary found on taobao.  This one is kind of interesting since it is more or less a Praxis shell that appears to have internals for shooting darts instead of discs.  It also seems to include a Nitron-style scope and a uselessly stubby Praxis-style stock.

This close up shows that the clip is rectangular for darts instead of cylindrical for discs.

The faux barrel is still the rectangular shape mean to accommodate discs

Barrel Break in N-Strike Elite blue

$

This popped up on Toys "R" Us' site and is available for pre-order, which I have yet to see the offer on any other blaster.  This is another blaster like the Reflex and Jolt, which have received new coloring without the Elite range treatment.
From what Hasbro tells us, they will be phasing out the N-Strike line, but this begs the question as to what will be discontinued and what will just be painted blue.  Part of the reason for doing this is probably to package their products with the improved Elite Darts and to totally phase out the old Streamlines.  This makes you wonder about the future of the Whistler (and suction cup) darts that use to be packaged with the Barrel Break and Jolt.

One thing that is conspicuously missing from the Barrel Break is the dart holder tactical rail accessory that was packaged with the original.  While some will probably not be happy about it, this might be an indication of a shift in the way Nerf is handling accessories.

At the London Toy Fair, Hasbro told us that there were going to be some new things headed our way in terms of accessory items.  It might turn out that Nerf is going to start selling the these kinds of things separately rather than only packaging them with a specific blaster.

Snapfire in the US

This popped up on the TRU site for pre-order.  It may not shoot as far as the Elite blaster, but the innovative internals are still very cool for people who are into the mechanical design of blasters.  This is the only semi-auto springer and the only Nerf blaster that I know of that uses an extension spring rather than a compression spring to fire darts.

Nerf for females, Nerf Rebelle line

$
0
0
This was found by Basic Nerf over on EW.com .

It says that Nerf is coming out with a new line that will appeal to girls.  This is a picture of the "Heartbreaker Bow" and might give us a little insight on what to expect from the Blazin' Bow that is to be released this fall.  This, however, is not just a repaint of the "Blazin' Bow" based on the description provided by Hasbro.

In article, Hasbro does say that they aren't just going to be make repaints of existing blasters.  This is going to be an whole new line.

The article also says that these blasters will have the same ranges as the N-Strike Elite blasters, which probably means that no matter what color they are or the target demographic, Nerf fans of both genders will want them.

"Hasbro is hoping to hit a bullseye with its next high-profile launch — a new brand of Nerf toys aimed specifically at girls. The line, called Nerf Rebelle, will feature projectiles that have the same power as the top items in the brand’s Nerf Elite line — but come wrapped in a prettier package and designed to encourage the collaborative play Hasbro has found girls prefer. Aspiring Princess Meridas and Katniss Everdeens can own the first Rebelle product — called the Heartbreaker bow — this fall.
Rebelle immediately brings to mind Lego Friends, a new line of female-driven products that helped to increase Lego’s profits by 36 percent last year — even as critics accused the toy company of promoting gender stereotypes. But John Frascotti, Global Chief Marketing Officer of Hasbro, says that his corporation isn’t worried that Rebelle pigeonholes girls or reinforces the ideology of separate spheres."

Thanks to MyLastDart for his coverage on the new batch of blasters.

The Vortex line is lookin much cooler in the new colors.  The Revonix360 in on the bottom right.  I'm not sure how I feel about the flame paint job.  Notice that the Nitron is nowhere to be found.

In the official hasbro description of the Revonix360 it mentioned  multicolor discs.  If you look at the upper right corner of all these boxes you see what appears to be a disc that matches the coloring of the new paint schemes on each individual blaster.  The refill packs seem to have the same orange discs found with the pyragon and diatron.

The Blazin' Bow.  I'm a fan of the colors.  The only thing that I don't like about this is that considering that that we have been told that the N-Strike line is going to be phased out, this might be the replacement for the Big Bad Bow. Needless to say the lack of trigger won't make BBB happy if that is the case.

This looks to be something like a Nite Finder or Firestrike but instead of a light you get dart storage that makes this look crossbow like.  Notice the tac rail which might mean pink tacticool accessories are on the way.

You can also see the turret of another Rebelle blaster in the background.  The design of the turret looks very similar to the one on a Strongarm.

A close up of the revonix360.  The vertical positioning of the discs means there is something cool going on with the internals to reposition the discs so that they can be fired.  I'm really curious to see if this still uses the same kind of torsion spring as the existing vortex or if it has some new mechanism that gives it the increased range.  If you notice it doesn't have the usual bulky part of the shell that houses the torsion spring and flinger arm.

The new recolors of the vortex line each have their own distinct decoration with distinct coloring on the white shells.  As shown here the diatron had kind of a tribal tattoo look.

Rebelle Crossbow

The Rebelle Crossbow looks almost like a pump-action Strongarm in a crossbow shell.  One interesting thing about this blaster is the iPhone cradle that integrates a video game experience into the blaster.

Here is the quote from Engadget:
"While the blasters still operate without the optional Mission Central App cradle ($15), it's once you get the whole kit together that things really start to fall into place. The attachment lets you drop in an iPhone (4, 4S or 5) and fire up the free companion app. (And don't worry Google fans, an Android version of the app along with a universal mount are also in the works.) Rather than focus on solo games and individual competition, the Rebelle Mission Central app encourages kids to form squads and compete not just for supremacy over their friends but also for in-game perks, like accessories for their avatars. Those virtual personas can be completely customized, allowing girls to fully embrace their secret agent fantasies.Of course, you can also document your foam-arrow battles and share them."
